Explore Cucina Moon

Located in the Shopping Center at 1960 Kapiolani Blvd #210A in Honolulu, Cucina Moon is a cozy Italian spot that focuses on thoughtfully prepared dishes and a more personal dining rhythm rather than oversized portions or flashy presentation. Walking in, the emphasis quickly becomes clear: pasta is made in-house, and that handmade quality shows up in both texture and flavor, giving each dish a substantial, satisfying bite that feels crafted rather than mass-produced. The sauces are layered and expressive, from a rich, slow-building bolognese to a tomato cream that balances acidity and smoothness with ease, while the spicy carbonara brings heat without overwhelming the dish’s depth. Alongside the pasta, the house-made focaccia consistently stands out-fresh, fragrant, and tender, it complements the meal naturally rather than feeling like an afterthought. Portion sizes are intentionally moderate, offering enough to feel fulfilled while still allowing diners to appreciate the nuances of the ingredients instead of feeling weighed down. The wine list is kept small and approachable, with a few Italian selections that pair comfortably with the menu, including reds that match well with the heartier sauces. The overall atmosphere is simple and unfussy, leaning more toward a neighborhood trattoria vibe than a polished fine-dining room, which lets the food take center stage. Pricing aligns with the quality and craftsmanship of the dishes, making it a place that appeals to those who value fresh pasta, balanced flavors, and a relaxed pace, whether stopping by for a casual dinner or exploring different sauces across repeat visits.

The pasta is home made, fresh and delicious . The focaccia bread was also delicious and fresh. The spicy carbonara was spicy but tasty . Here’s a picture of our plates at the end:

The serving sizes were a nice change! Just the right amount instead of gorging ourselves on huge amounts of pasta. The focaccia is house made and delish. A small selection of wines available, the Italian red was nice.

The pasta is delicious with a distinct handmade consistency and substantial feel in mouth. The sauces (we had the bolognese and tomato cream) were flavorful with depth and character. I'm interested to try the other sauces. At the price point, would be good to serve some bread with olive oil/butter. The atmosphere needs a bit of work.

We arrived early because we heard it is limiting seating (glad we did). We ordered and found a table (there were 5 of us). Each dish is made to order. We shared so that we were able to try different dishes. The servings were the perfect size and everything was delicious. Squid ink pasta with shrimp was excellent!

Checked out Cucina Moon tonight. Delicious food and great service made for a delightful night out. Had the garlic shrimp pasta with tomato cream which was very tasty with a nice balance of flavors. The serving size wasn't huge but was just right when paired with a garden salad and the green tea ice cream for dessert. The ice cream featured a rice flour granola that added a little crunch to a perfect meal ender. Also happy hour priced specials from 5-6pm. I had a glass of the Sauvignon blanc to complement the fresh pasta. Will be back soon!

Food quality & taste was excellent that it made up for... the portion size (could be a tad bit larger), the lack of salad dressing (recommend they should toss the dressing on the salad maybe add a squeeze of lemon), service (server could be a little more upbeat and speak louder), and simple decor (I don't know what it is but it seems to be missing something) None of which were bad at all, just needs improvement. Fix these and definitely a 5 ⭐ place for sure. Oh... And be sure to make a reservation
